At Järvamaa College, an international training took place on April 9–10 as part of the Erasmus+ programme, where trainers from Italy shared their knowledge and experience. The two-day training, “Emotional Skills in Everyday Work,” focused on supporting teachers’ professional development and providing practical tools to enrich daily teaching practices.
The training was held at the Paide study building and was conducted by experienced trainers Nicola Bellin and Elena Vera Girelli from the Italian school ENGIM. During the workshops, several important topics were addressed, including the development of emotional intelligence, recognizing and managing one’s emotions, and the role of empathy in building stronger relationships with both students and colleagues. Attention was also given to enhancing self-awareness, communication skills, and emotional resilience in the school environment.
Participant feedback was very positive. According to one participant, the training was memorable and practical: “It was a very engaging training. I especially liked the flower exercise and the discussion of thoughts read from notes in a circle.” The teacher added that they have already applied the knowledge gained during the training with first-year students, helping them better understand different situations.
Overall, the training was considered practical and inspiring, offering many new ideas and “aha” moments. Such international cooperation projects significantly enrich teachers’ everyday work and contribute to creating a modern and supportive learning environment.
The cooperation with these trainers has lasted for several years, and it was a great pleasure to welcome them to our school once again!
