Veterinary Assistant on an Erasmus+ Traineeship in Poland

Date created 02.02.2026

In November, veterinary assistant Annabel Hermits took part in an Erasmus+ mobility programme in Poland, where she gained valuable international work experience and developed both professional and general skills.

At the clinic, Annabel acquired practical skills related to the work of a veterinary assistant: preparing the operating table and recovery cage, monitoring animals during and after surgery, creating a sterile environment, and tidying the operating room. She also improved her communication skills in English and learned basic Polish expressions.

She highlighted that she was very proud of how she managed to learn many tasks simply through observation and then perform them independently. This gave her a great deal of confidence and a sense that she was truly helpful.

During her traineeship, Annabel explored Wrocław and other Polish cities and visited several educational and cultural sites, including Wrocław Zoo, Hydropolis, and the Sky Tower. In her free time, she discovered the city’s distinctive dwarf statues, parks, and actively used public transport.

The traineeship abroad helped Annabel become more independent, improve her organisational skills, and gain confidence in an international working environment. Annabel completed her traineeship at the Fizjo-Wet veterinary clinic.
